September 4, 2018 is my 36th birthday. I've been meditating on how to survive as an artist. It has been my dream to start a diversity consultant business, publish my first book, and become financially independent.
This is the year where I will publish my first book via preorders. This book is about my travels, what I think needs to change in the art world, and a memoir of things that have happened to me (including sexual harassment, unexpected success, becoming a leader, challenging institutions, loving myself).
The first 100 orders here will receive an individual phone call/performance. For $100, I will send you a photograph and a book. For $50, I will send you this artist book because you helped me realize my dream this year. I will share content with you that no one on social media can see. Any other amount is a love offering.
Your donation will also help me to do this work for free for people who can’t afford it. Your donation will help me to create the art world we all wish to see – one where the dignity of all humans is valued and respected.
People often ask me to give (diversity, art consulting, relationship, studio visit, the best birthday gift) advice. I was the first Diversity Director at a major art school, and, soon I will be going to the University of Florida to perform my one of my first legit gigs for diversity training outside of a salaried position.
It has been a tough, but good year on my own.
I earned a Master's from one of the best schools in the world. I lost a love I thought would last a lifetime due to a political situation beyond our control. It still hurts.
I travelled around the world . I got on the cover of a magazine . I made a lot of work . I gave away some of it, because I want my work to have a good home.
I found out my health is not perfect. And I realized I am tired of working so hard I can barely sleep.
Please help me realize this dream. Be a part of my journey.
