Hi All -
My name is Jafet Aparicio, and I am attempting to raise funds for my father, Rafael Castillo.
On Thursday, May 26th around 4:00 pm I received a call from my uncle frantically telling me that my father had suffered a fall at work and that was about all he knew. Fearing for the worst, I immediately hopped in my car with my mother and younger brother aboard and drove the longest 1-hour drive of my life to the hospital. We were scared to death because we had no idea what condition we would find him in. Finally arriving, I became emotional seeing my father laid down with my older sister sitting beside him, neck brace and everything, a sight I never thought I would see. I was relieved to see my father was conscious and we began talking to him. Reassuring him that we were finally there with him and that everything was going to be okay.
My father fell 14ft-20ft from the side of the house he was working on and fractured both arms along with his hip and dislocated elbow. His injuries will not allow him to work for a year or so. He has undergone 3 surgeries and will need more in the coming months. One of his main concerns at the moment is what he will work in after his recovery. I have reassured him that his main concern should be to get better.
He recently accomplished the milestone of becoming a homeowner and putting my sister and me through college. He is the hardest working person I know, putting himself through the coldest and hottest of days to work and support our family, and does not complain. He is truly a role model for me and my siblings and has always offered a helping hand to us in every time of need and I want to do the same along with my mother and sister.
My sister and I will be moving back home to support him, my mother, and my 6-year-old brother. Every penny counts and with your support, we will get through this and be stronger as a family.
Your generosity and compassion will help cover my father's mortgage, utilities, and renovations to help make our home more comfortable for my father through his recovery journey.
From family and friends, we thank you!
