Raelynn and Brad

Hello, my name is Camille. My granddaughter raelynn is currently admitted to the hospital with influenza a, mrsa, and empyema. After her dad took her several times to be seen, and sent home stating that she was okay, and not getting better and still struggling to breathe he took her to Los Robles hospital in thousands oaks. After being seen there they immediately put her on the highest oxygen that they could without intubating her. After several tests they realized that she needed higher level care and flew her by helicopter to ucla Ronald Reagan. There is where they intubated her and took her to surgery to have a chest tube placed. During that time they also noticed that she had a leak in her lungs caused by the infection. With the chest tube in they started administering tpa to start breaking up the infection. During that first initial administration of the tpa her oxygen level dropped and they did x-rays to find that she had a partial lung collapse. Thankfully after they manipulated the chest tube they were able to fix the situation and her lung reexpanded. Since then she has been handling the tpa better but still has a long process ahead of her.

During this time her father, Bradley has not left her side. Unfortunately with all of this going on he has been missing work and is struggling with finances. Thankfully he is covered with medical insurance but his daily bills are still piling up. He is currently staying at the Tiverton which is a hotel for families for patients at ucla. The rate is still $179 a night. Thankfully Bradley's place of business actually purchased 5 nights for him but he will need more considering rae will be there for awhile for recovery.
