Gift Cards for Radical Brownies

Donation protected
As I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed one night, I came across this article.  Meet the ‘Radical Brownies’ – girl scouts for the modern age,  As I read the article, I just could not get over the idea.  What a great way to empower little girls of color.  And empowering little girls of color is exactly what needs to happen in this country.

(From their Facebook)  The Radical Brownies is an Oakland based group of young girls of color ages 8-11yrs old.
Mission Statement: The Radical Brownies empower young girls of color so that they step into their collective power, brilliance and leadership in order to make the world a more radical place.
Vision: The Radical Brownies create opportunities for young girls of color to form fierce sisterhood, celebrate their cultures and contribute radically to their communities.

What is not to love about that?!

I posted the article in a group that I admin on Facebook called, "The Conversation Starts Today - Racism and White Privilege."  This is a group for anyone who is willing to be open minded and have a "safe conversation" about racism, white privilege, prejudice, & anything else that divides people.   We also have a sister group called, "The Conversation Starts Today - Taking Action."  This is a group where we work on different campaigns designed to help take a stand against racism in this country.

Over the next few days, I would see the article pop up on other Facebook pages, and just could not get over what a wonderful idea it is.  Finally I found that Radical Brownies had their own Facebook page. Check it out, and give it a Like here.   Looking through the page, I was taken with the back story of the group.  Two everyday citizens taking a chance by doing something different, and positive.  Similar to myself and a friend that decided to create TCST to talk about the problems of racsim and privilege in this country.  I have so much respect for them, and I want to help!

As I scrolled their Facebook page, I found a link to their website.  On their website, I found a wish list:
Wish List
Etsy Gift Certificate (to purchase custom badges from our vendor)
REI Gift Certificates (for camping gear)
Costco Gift Certificates (for snacks/camping gear)
Amazon Gift Certificates (for workshop supplies)
Jo-Ann/Michaels Gift Certificate (for workshop supplies)
Nikon D5300 Digital SLR camera (to document actions/activities)

This is how we can help!  TCST is looking to raise money for Radical Brownies, so that they can purchase gift cards on their wish list, to assure they can get supplies they need for the girls.  We have set a goal based off of each member donating just $10 and sharing the fundraiser with friends.

We hope you will join us in supporting this great cause, helping to empower little girls of color.  And please, share this with your friends.

Thank you
Jennifer
