We are a collective of permaculturists, scientists, and artists in the process of purchasing land in rural Ireland. Many of us also have experience in the DIY scene, and living and organising in social centers. We are committed to using all the skills and resources at our disposal, to build a base of mutual aid, sustainable living, and grassroots organising.
For the past two years we have been working hard to bring our vision of an autonomous community space in the heart of Ireland to a reality. Gathering members and funds, writing our constitution, working to get registered as a co-operative, and trying to find the perfect piece of land. As we draw to the end of 2020 we are closer than ever to achieving our dream, and are hoping to have some very big updates for you all, over the coming months.
Our goals include:
-Setting up a community garden, food forest, meeting spaces, housing, workshops and other community infrastructure.
-Meeting our energy needs using sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels
(wind, solar, hydro and electricity alternatives)
-Working and organising with other groups in the area, across the country, and internationally, in order to create a network of mutual aid.
-Promoting veganism as a sustainable way of living.
-Creating an inclusive and empowering space for marginalised identities.
Ireland is a small country, and we strongly believe that projects like this are the key to building a new future, one from which we can strengthen our communities to confront the many crises we face today and in the future.
