My name is Mamata Shrestha. I grew up in Nepal and moved to Boulder, Colorado seven years ago with my husband. Starting out, it was really hard for us to live in the USA. We were so lucky to get support from Nepalese friends when we had very low income to live on. My friend Radhika Thapa has been living here in the USA for 12 years. When I had no shelter and was pregnant with my daughter three years ago, she let my family stay with her. Now, this is my turn to support her family. Her uncle was killed trying to save his mother during the devasting earthquake in Nepal. His family (wife, mother and 5 children) are without shelter and adequate food in Sindhupalchowk , Jalkune VDC. Their livestock and houses were completely destroyed. Sindhupalchowk , Jalkune VDC has not yet been able to get rescue support. I am trying to contact some of the organizations in Nepal who are going to Sindhupalchowk but it is slow.
Radhika's father wants to go Nepal to help. He is very worried, as this is his responsiblity now to take care of his brother's family.
Radhika and I are trying to see if we can raise some funds to help his family in this devastating situation. We want to help with shelter and food not only for his family but the whole neighborhood whose houses are collapsed and need food and shelter, like Radhika's uncle's family.
I would like to appeal to everyone of you who wants to support the people of Nepal. We will update pictures once we can send a person from Kathmandu. The picture I currently have uploaded shows Radhika's uncle's family. Uncle is no more with them but we have to support this family and all the other families who desperately need our support.
Please share and support for this purpose.
