Radha Govinda’s Sanctuary

Radha Govinda’s Sanctuary was born out of the desire to offer a beautiful pasture of tall grass and rolling hills for cows to live their natural lives. We are a group of friends that have come together to bring one cow home (so far!).

The founder of the beautiful Churchtown Dairy farm has a generous heart and a desire to see some of her cows living within a community. In that generous spirit, Molly has been gifted to us and is now in our care.

The sanctuary is the result of many months of meetings and prayers. A farmer friend has recently leased 40 acres of pasture and woods near her farm in Ghent, N.Y., and because of her generous offer, we will establish the sanctuary on this land. Molly will join a couple of other cows there, creating a new small herd.

"Radha" is the divine feminine energy, and "Govinda" is one of many names for The Divine, meaning, one who gives real pleasure to the cows. "Sanctuary" is a safe haven.

For centuries, in many cultures, the cow has been regarded as a sacred animal. She shares her milk for others to be nourished, and she forms close relationships with those who care for her. We are honored to provide a safe, healthy and loving home for Molly and hopefully a couple of other cows to thrive in peace and health for the rest of their lives.
