My mother's (Robin) words: It breaks my heart to share the tragic loss of my brother-in-law, Radek Filip, on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
Radek was a loving husband of 23 years to wife Cheryl, and a devoted stepfather to his children Jillian (Alan) Knapp, Brandon Lemke, and granddaughter Evelyn Knapp. He was loved and cherished by his parents Frantisek and Jirina, and sisters Hana and Dagmar, of Usti nad Orlici, Czech Republic.
He had a deep passion for martial arts throughout his life beginning as a young man, then progressing to teacher, as he earned the distinguished honor of 5th degree black belt in Uechi-ryuand. Radek leaves behind his legacy through the many students who studied under him, and great respect for the teachers whom he mentored.
Radek was a man of many talents. He was dedicated to his profession of physical therapy, had a thirst for knowledge, loved spending time outdoors, was an accomplished dressage horseback rider, an avid reader, a gentle soul to all creatures (especially cats), keenly in tune to world politics, and a passionate debater.
Family is welcoming visitors at their home. If you wish to make a donation, please do so to a charity of your choosing, a local dojo, or to this goFundme which will directly benefit Cheryl to help cover the unexpected expenses of this tragic loss.
Please share with friends, loved-ones, colleagues, or anyone who may have know Radek.
Rest in peace, warrior Radek. You will always be remembered with deep love and affection.
Thank you!
