Rad Nurse: Meals for Nurses
Donation protected
My name is Elysia and I’m a nurse. I started the nonprofit “Rad Nurse” with the hopes of providing care for nurses in crisis. And over the past year and a half, we have conducted fundraisers, shared stories, and empowered our nurses to endure and continue providing exceptional care to their patients. Rad Nurse is essentially a nurse for nurses. That’s our heart, and it has never been more clear that our nurses need help.
I’ve spoken with multiple nurses who are confronting the corona virus in Saint Louis Hospitals, and I could spend the rest of this video voicing their concerns: from 16-18 hour shifts, to pay differentials being cut, to having no childcare, scarce groceries available, and limited meals served in hospital cafeterias.
Despite all odds: nurses keep showing up.
So the question I’ve been grappling with is “What impact can a tiny non-profit make in a time of monumental crisis?” And right now, it’s really simple: we gonna feed our nurses.
Rad Nurse is partnering with “Time for Dinner”: a local meal prep business in Saint Louis that makes and delivers freezer meals for the community. It only costs $15 for a three serving entree, and is the most effective way to guarantee our nurses and their families get fed.
Our first goal is to feed 40 nurses on staff in a Saint Louis Emergency Department. All proceeds raised through this go-fund-me will go directly to “Time for Dinner”, they prep the meals and bring them directly to the ER nurses. By simply donating $15, you’re supporting a local business, and you’re feeding a nurse! It’s a win-win.
It’s time that we came together as a community and took care of the people that take care of us. This is just the beginning of the COVID 19 crisis, but this is JUST the beginning of what we can do through Rad Nurse.
This initial fundraiser will be active for two weeks, and I cannot thank you enough for your support. I'm proud of my fellow Nurses, the Doctors, Hospital Support Staff, Secretaries, Paramedics, EMTs, Firefighters, and every person working tirelessly during this time.
