Racing Wheelchair for Tate
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Randy Smith and I am the track and field coach at Green High School in Franklin Furnace, Ohio. Over the years I've coached I have had some very special athletes, none more so than the young man, I work with now. His name is Tate Ratliff. He has been in a wheelchair his entire life. He works hard to do anything other people do. He never complains and always smiles. This past spring we decided to try wheelchair racing in track and field. He took to it like a natural. In fact he did so well he finished fourth in the state of Ohio in the 100 meter dash in the jr high division. It is even more impressive when you realise we didn't even have a track for him to practice on. Thankfully a new track is being built now. To help him continue his way in the endeavor, we would like to buy him his own racing chair. The one he was in last season was a used one we were allowed to borrow. A new one would be built to his body specifications and allow him to go much faster with more control. Any help anyone could give would be deeply appreciated. Our goal is $4000 which would cover his chair and equipment. I do ask if you ever get a chance to come to a track meet where Green Jr High is competing please come out and watch Tate. It is a life changing experience.
