Racing the Mongolian steppe for charity

After almost 2 years of training and pushing my boundaries, it is time for my greatest horse challenge as of yet:

In august 2022 I will travel to the Mongolian Steppe to partake in the Mongol Derby, the world's longest and toughest horse race.

During the past two years I have been riding as many horses as possible in several countries, covering hundreds of kilometers to prepare my body, muscels and spirit for this adventure ride!

 

Will I finish? Well, most participants don't.

Will I go for it? Oh yes, I will!

As part of this race, I will be raising funds for charity.

The two charities I picked are close to my heart for different reasons.

Funding will be split between the charities Steppe and Hoof and Prinses Beatrix Spierfonds / Muscle fund.

 

 

 

 

Steppe and Hoof

 

Why this charity?

Steppe and Hoof provides local herder families in Mongolia with medical aid and education to care for their animals autonomously, no matter how remotely they set up camp. Knowledge sharing enriches the way in which local families can take care of the animals.

 

Beneficiaries of this charity?

The nomads of the beautiful, Mongolian Steppe, and their animals (did anyone say horses??)

 

 

 

 

Prinses Beatrix Spierfonds / Muscle fund

 

Why this charity?

Recently, I have learnt what impact a muscle disease can have on someone's life. Research is desperately needed to prevent, cure and manage these diseases, because as of yet much is till unknown.

 

Beneficiaries of this charity?

Anyone suffering from a muscle disease right now or in future. The Beatrix Spierfonds focuses on scientific research with the goal to prevent/ cure muscle diseases.
