Hi, this is Phoebe. We are looking to raise £3000 towards the cost of a racing wheelchair and equipment. This will support the charity applications we are also making, so the money can go further to support other children with disabilities.

Background

Phoebe was born with an unknown condition, but it presents like cerebral palsy. From a young age Phoebe as been a full time wheelchair user. From an early age it was possible to see that she had a passion for being active, whether it was basketball, rugby, dance or racing around with her brother.

Sport

Although Phoebe dabbled in racing when she was younger, it is now that she is starting to take the sport more seriously racing for a club and attending Local, Regional and National competitions.

Racing gives Phoebe the freedom to both enjoy sport with other wheelchair users, but also to be recognised as an athlete at school and with her peers. This gives her a real sense of pride and belonging and to also act as a bit of a trail blazer in getting more differently abled students involved in sport.

Phoebe came second in the U14 London Mini Marathon this year, and also became the first wheelchair user in her district athletics. In the Summer, she will continue to train and race in a number of National competitions.

A new racing chair for Phoebe becomes really important for her, not only to continue the amazing effort she has shown this year but also to support her physical and mental health.

Any support that can be offered is truly appreciated as she continues to grow and race into the future. Who knows where she will be able to get to with the right equipment.
