Racines NY Staff Disaster Relief Fund

Donation protected
Racines NY was created almost 6 years ago, born from the dream of two passionate wine lovers,  Arnaud Tronche & David Lillie,  who wanted to share great bottles, delicious food, and beautiful stories with their guests and their staff.

Over the years, our little wine restaurant has created a real community of food and wine enthusiasts, supported by the love and enthusiasm of our patrons and our industry friends.

None of this would have been possible without the hard work, loyalty, and commitment of every single person who has supported us through the years, especially our staff.

This week, like so many others, we were forced to layoff the entirety of our staff of more than 20 employees.  This will last for an undetermined amount of time.

Right now, the help from the state and the government is far from sufficient to support them. Unemployment Benefits are sub-minimum wage, and not enough to be able to survive during this extraordinary, terrible crisis, unprecedented in most of our lifetimes.

We have created this fund to help our staff. 100% of the proceeds will go to them, to allow them to keep a certain level of life until we are able to reopen and give them their job back. The money will be directly shared with all of the them.

We are not the first restaurant to launch such a campaign, and the market for such is swelling on an hour-by-hour basis.  As it stands, this is not sustainable.  Pleas for help like this often see an initial spike of support, then drop off completely.  There are likely several restaurants whose staff you would like to support.

If we reach our goal, our campaign is designed to offer up to 4 weeks of financial support for our team.  If need be, we will launch another one down the road.  In the meantime, as much as we need to flatten the curve of this pandemic, we must also flatten the curve of support.  This must evolve into a more grassroots effort, and therefore we offer you A Formula for Reasonable and Sustainable Relief:

Most restaurants operate on about a 30% labor cost, give or take.  You are unlikely to be going out to dinner anytime soon, as there is no where to go.  But if you were, you probably have an idea of what you might spend.  Take that number, multiply it by 30%, and then take away what you spent to feed you and your family tonight.  Let's be reasonable.  You need to eat as much as our staff needs to eat.

No donation is too small.  $1.00, $2.00 . . . it's something.  Spread the love.  As we mentioned before, we are far from the only restaurant seeking to help our staff during this difficult period of time.  If you support us today, please support another restaurant on the next day you might have gone out to eat.

When this disaster is over, and if we make it to the other side, all contributors will be invited to a "We Can All Breathe Again (Literally)" celebration at the restaurant.

Once again, thank you so much for your love and generosity in these incredibly difficult times.

Humbly,

Arnaud, Pascaline, David, Diego, & Jared
