Racine Family Fund
~This is a fundraiser for the Racine family. Wade Racine has a terminal illness brought on by complications from his Diabetes. He has bravely battled this disease for decades and it has taken its toll. He has entered hospice with mere weeks to live.~
I wrote that just last week and now, like a breath, it is no longer hopeless. He has begun to recover from the infections and is being re-evaluated to get a new kidney. This lessens his chances of dying but he is not out of the woods. Without a kidney, he will still succumb to this illness. If you are interested in being a living kidney donor, please contact me [email redacted].
The rest of us can help too!! The family is in desperate need of money to pay mounting bills for living expenses, medical extras, and of course, to make a beautiful holiday for their 7 year old daughter.
HERE is the story:
On November 19th, we were all informed by Wade that he was at the end of his life. He sent this message out publicly on Facebook:
"Dear friends, it is over. I have decided to stop all attempts at curative care and instead enter hospice care..." There is more but those words may be considered too private to share here. The doctors gave him 2 weeks at most. Many of you saw this and an outpouring of love and sorrow came gushing forth. We all seemed to join together, reaching across time and space, to connect with one of our tribe who was in trouble. We posted favorite stories, happy times, photographs, and of course there was the Camarilla Alumni group that began and continues at a flurried pace. Our little-HUGE family gathered together to embrace him and his family from every corner of the world.
Then our miracle. Wade began to beat his infections. With the help of an amazing medical staff, his tight inner circle of family around him, and all the stories, love, and magic that poured forth from his friends, Wade started to turn the tide. He is still very ill and desperately needs our help, but there is a tiny light now where none existed before.
Wade Racine is the father of a lovely 7 year old girl, a husband to a strong and beautiful wife, a brother, a son, and a friend to so many of us across the world. He has been dear to us in so many ways. Let's help them financially deal with the burden of this illness in the powerful way we have comforted them emotionally.
There is so much love around the family right now. It has been a beautiful thing to be a part of and it has given the family some much needed support.
Thank you so much
