Join Rach's "Cheersquad" and help her to kick Cancer's Butt!

Because of the Cancer Fight she hasn't been able to work since March last year. Your help is helping with her ongoing medical expenses, treatments, medications, medical equipment and supplies.

This Go Fund Me has been created with care by Rach's American "Community" where she did her student exchange in High School. Her American High School Mascot is the Spartan, and so that's what inspired her to create her motto, "Spartan Up" !

After Rach's Story below you can read a special message from Jenn Ryan on behalf of the original Spartans ......

From Rach :
I'm a 44 year old Aussie who in March last year found out I had a cancerous tumor in my bowel which the specialists called "The Beast" ! It was an aggressive cancer that had broken the bowel wall and metasticised elsewhere. So massive 5 and a half hour surgery was done to remove the tumor and created an ileostomy (stoma/bag). But also involved a full ("radical ") hysterectomy, removal of effected lymph nodes, and shaving of my stomach and pelvis and vaginal wall.

I spent an extended period in hospital due to various complications especially to do with the stoma. And had smaller follow up procedures for stents and a chemo port.

I started chemo in June 2021 And changed to a different concoction of chemo meds in September and then again in January 22, due to the cancer spreading throughout my abdominal tissues. I have ongoing scans to check the status of the cancer and review the treatment plan again.

There are also a bunch of side issues being monitored. Eg abdo fluid and leakage, hernias, blood clots, stomal issues and wounds, other malignant wounds, which have been giving me a lot of drama. Add that to all the weird and not wonderful side effects of non-stop chemo.

I will continue to post my medical updates here as they happen.

From Jenn Ryan (one of Rach's Mates from her American Spartan community)
Rachel Hunter joined the class of 1996, from Australia, as one of our foreign exchange students. She has come back to visit us, most recently for our 20th Class Reunion. She stays in touch with so many faculty /staff and so many students. This will ALWAYS be her second home.

Rachel is one of those very rare people you meet in your life that you just know will always be there for you. Let's be there for her !

Let's show Rachel what it means to be a Spartan !
