Rachel's Trip to the Mayo Clinic

Rachel has fought a hard battle the past 12 months. She has been experiencing a severe flare of Crohn's disease. In case you are not up to date on Crohn's, it is classified as an inflammatory bowel disease. Rachel suffers daily with chronic pain, frequent trips to the restroom, and fatigue. Through it all Rachel keeps a positive attitude and is a light to those she meets. 

Rachel spent 35 days in the hospital from February to April. She was on complete bowel rest for 15 of those days and was only able to eat a few ice chips to satisfy her thirst. She was loaded with high doses of steroids which showed little benefit. After all that time, her colon was still significantly inflammed and showed minor healing. 

In recent weeks she has failed another biologic medication. We are quickly running out of options to battle this wicked disease. Her doctor has recommended that we see the physicians at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in hopes that there is cutting edge technology that can be of some benefit and provide relief. 

We are very fortunate that our insurance will cover a great deal of the medical expenses. However, travel to the clinic alone will be a daunting task. Friends and family continue to ask, how can we help? Well here is your chance!

This gofundme has been established to help Rachel and I with the travel expenses associated with the trip to Minnesota. From flights, to rental cars, to hotel rooms and meals the trip is going to get expensive over the 10 day stay we anticipate. The entire amount donated to this account will go directly to Rachel to use for her travel to and from Mayo.
