Rachel's medical expenses and healthy recovery
Jacque Johnson is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Michael Johnson.
On Saturday, March 2nd, our daughter-in-law suddenly collapsed at the dinner table while talking on the phone with her husband, our son Michael. Thank God most of the children were downstairs watching TV and were able to yell for their oldest child Maddie, who rushed downstairs to find Rachel unconscious, turning purple and not breathing. 911 was called and Maddie was able to perform CPR and got her breathing. When the paramedics arrived, they sedated and intubated her and took her to St. Peters Hospital. She was put in a medically induced coma because after CPR, she was barely breathing on her own. They did a CT scan but it didn't show anything that could have caused this. She was treated for a collapsed lung that was caused from the CPR. Once she was stable, she was taken to ICU. Had she been alone when this happened, we would have lost her for sure. Praise God that Maddie was home and saved her mom's life...she is our Hero!!! March 4th was their 18 year anniversary and we are beyond thankful that it will not be their last.
They still don't know the initial cause, but think she went into Cardiac Arrest or Respiratory Failure. On March 6th they woke her up and took her off the ventilator, she is now breathing on her own but now out of the woods yet. She will hopefully be moved to a regular room soon. Rachel will also require rehabilitative care after discharge, possibly even intensive inpatient rehab. They have 6 kids who have been scared and worried about her and can't wait to see her and her them.
To start, Michael is taking at least a month off from work to be at the hospital with Rachel and to care for her when she goes home and care for the kids. He is truck driver and works hard at least 70 hours a week to provide for his family. We know what kind of strain this puts on someone's financial situation. And we are hoping to ease this burden put on them and help with the $1,000's of dollar for their deductible and any unexpected medical bills that may come, and also will be only getting about half of his salary through Family Leave.
Thank you so much for anything you are able to give. We know they will truly appreciate it and we know how blessed they will be. They are so grateful for all the love, prayers and support that has been pouring in from all their family and friends at this difficult time.
Let's BLESS THEIR SOCKS OFF!!!
May God bless you all abundantly,
Mike and Jacque
