Rachel’s Costume Design Graduate Goals

My name is Rachel, and I’ve spent the last decade working as a fashion stylist for editorial campaigns, e-commerce catalogs, and both celebrities and everyday people. From a young age, I was drawn to style and self-expression, inspired by my parents’ work in the entertainment industry. Over the years, I’ve learned how a costume can transform a performance, helping actors, dancers, and singers fully inhabit their roles and connect with audiences on a deeper level.
Now, I’m ready to take my creative journey further by pursuing a master’s degree in costume design at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television. This program is the perfect blend of academic excellence and hands-on professional training, and it will give me the technical skills I need to bring my ideas to life on stage and screen. The funds I raise will go directly toward tuition, materials, living expenses, a sewing machine, design tools, and transportation costs—everything I need to make the most of this opportunity.
My dream is to join at least two major unions—Local 705, 892, 829, or 764—and start working on productions that inspire and entertain. With your support, I can take this next step and use my skills to help tell powerful stories through costume design. Thank you for believing in my vision and helping me reach my goal.
