Rachel's Computer Data Recovery & Studio Fund

Hey Everyone,

My name is Rachel Grace and I’m a professional musician (violinist). I also write, arrange and produce music. Some of you may know me through the streaming platform twitch.tv.

During the pandemic I suffered an injury to my wrist leaving me unable to play for 8 months. It was heartbreaking to turn down any much-needed recording work that came in. Not only did it have major financial consequences, I can’t begin to tell you how mentally discouraging it is to not be able to do the one thing you love most - which for me is practicing, producing and creating music.

I decided to try and rise above it and invest the time into getting my Logic Pro certification so I could go fully back to recording and producing as soon as I recovered. 

Once I finally started recovering I discovered the live streaming platform Twitch and invested all my time to learn everything about it and began live streaming 3 times a week. Slowly I started building some new income through the platform until one day, mid-stream/concert, my upstairs neighbor disrupted the stream with aggressive and threatening behavior which was heard and experienced by other neighbors as well.

Security and police got involved but there was nothing they could do and the threatening behavior continued, leaving me scared for my safety and that of my dogs.

As an emergency solution I commissioned a soundproof studio/booth to be built in my apartment (I have lived there for 10 years and never had any problems with anybody. I also didn’t play more music than I normally would (outside of the pandemic) - and I always played after 10am and before 8pm and never for hours at a time).
Even though I was in my right to play violin, I continuously feared for retaliation from my neighbor, so I had the soundproof studio built to ensure I could continue to practice and my live-streams, but most of all, earn a living.

Once the studio was recently finished, I started live-streaming and recording again full force until a few weeks ago, when there was an incident with my MacBook Pro where a water spill completely ruined the computer. This was my main computer with all my files, all my work, applications, VST’s and so much more. I was devastated to learn that it was beyond repair. Thankfully I found that the hard drive was still intact, but the costs of retrieving the data is almost 1k.

All the above have caused a major setback for me as a musician and it’s been hard at times to keep my spirits up.

I am humbly asking for your help: any donation, no matter how small, will greatly help me towards paying off the soundproof studio build, as well as funding the recovery of my hard drive. The total amount of my GoFundMe will pay off both the studio and the hard drive recovery.

It’s hard to explain the emotional stress that comes with feeling unsafe in your home and even before that, not being able to play your instrument. I am very grateful for everyone who has reached out and offered support and right now my only wish is to get back to fully making & creating music again.

On a happy note: the neighbor in question moved out a week ago :)
