Rachelle Taylor’s fight against breast cancer
At the beginning of November 2020, our incredible friend Rachelle Taylor was diagnosed with Stage 2B Bilateral Breast Cancer, metastatic to her right lymph node. By the grace of God, there was no other spread beyond these three areas, but at the young age of 29, it was news no one was prepared to handle. With no history of breast cancer running in her family, this came as a shock, but Rachelle chose not to let this bring her down. Instead, she encouraged those around her to stay positive while she approached this new journey with the mindset of a fighter. She knows the road ahead will be a challenging one with chemo, surgery, and radiation on her timeline. But she has felt immensely supported by the amount of love and blessing she’s already received from so many wonderful family, friends, and her church. Her optimism and transparency have been inspiring to many that know her.
However, to make matters more challenging, COVID-19 has restricted many family and friends from being by Rachelle’s side during her chemotherapy treatments. And a week after receiving her diagnosis, her husband, Tom, was laid off from both his jobs due to Governor Newsom’s shutting down of all restaurants in Orange County. The holiday season is known to be a lucrative time for restaurants in OC, but with no alternative, Tom and Rachelle have exhausted most of their savings for bills, medical supplies and medical deductibles. The silver lining in the midst of these trials is that Tom has been able to be with Rachelle full time during her road to recovery. Not only has his emotional support been valuable, but he is now able to take her to all of her appointments, pick up medication or be on standby on days she is not feeling well.
How you can help!
All donations will go towards Rachelle’s medical supplies, medical bills, cold cap therapy treatments, medications, and home bills such as utilities and groceries.
Although her diagnosis makes no sense she has begun the road to recovery humbly, with grace, and acts as an advocate so others around her can become more informed about her specific type of cancer. What is even more inspiring is that she is still working FULL-TIME from home as her Pastor’s Executive Assistant, utilizing zoom and other online platforms to do her work, all while going to her weekly treatments. Her employers have been incredibly kind and gracious during this time, allowing her to work remotely and support her in any and every way to make this possible.
Rachelle and Tom are a hardworking and honest couple. They strive to grow in their faith every day and share such a beautiful love story that is still being written. Their little family also includes two adorable dogs, Lexi and Lego.
Rachelle deserves to conquer this fight with all of us by her side. Let’s come together and show the Taylor Family support through this difficult journey as we watch for her HEALING and see miracles of God unfold now and in the future!
