Hi, my name is Rachell Paige, I am a native San Diego artist, UCSD '18. I am raising funds in order to jump start my life and art business back on track, after the Jan. 22nd floods in San Diego.

I awoke Monday morning so excited to put together my new desk chair and get some much needed organization done in my art studio. It had rained last night and the weather report said that it would continue to rain into Wednesday. A great day to just simply work on indoor activities. However at 10:25 am my apartment started taking on water, it kept rising and did not stop. It happened so quickly I had no time to attempt to save anything. I tried to flee in my Jeep but it stalled as water started pouring in from the door seams. I climbed out the window with my small dog and up on the balcony of my neighbors' apartments, as my Jeep and other vehicles floated away. We stood there huddled and shivering in the rain for four hours while watching our belongings being washed away by the chest high river flowing through our apartment complex. It was evident that everything that was in those apartments was completely destroyed. I lost all my equipment, memories, many books, and art supplies. Anything and everything that was not stored in high cabinets was covered with brown wet silt, including my new office chair still in its box.

Since then I've been doing everything in my power to advocate for the aid my neighbors and I need to get through this tumultuous event. Any contribution will be beneficial and ease the burden of this displacement and total loss I have accrued.
