Rachel Krystle Gomez passed away on July 20, 2020.
My name is Dan, and I had the pleasure of not only calling Rachel my colleague but also my friend. While we worked together for the past year alongside each other, after only a few short months she was often able to finish my incoherent thoughts, and sentences. Rachel and I bonded over our desire to improve work processes (maybe me more than her), trying new food, movies/ TV shows, and above all helping others.
Rachel was an integral part of our work family at Houston ISD as she spent 19 years working for the district in a variety of roles. Anyone that ever worked with Rachel knew that she had an incredible wealth of knowledge of the district, and that she could always be counted on. Always willing to help and learn, Rachel was the kind of person that any team or department would love to have on their side.
Outside of work, Rachel was adored by friends and family. Putting others first, Rachel offered help to those in need. With her love for arts and crafts she spent the last few months working with her mother to sew masks for people in the community, while also donating to local healthcare workers that impacted her brother Tom's life in his battle with cancer. Rachel loved to plan surprises especially for those she cared about like putting together extravagant homemade gifts for friends (often times at the request for others too!). She was always selfless, putting her family, friends, and others first before herself.
Rachel was loved by everyone that knew her. Her laugh was contagious. Her spirit and heart were golden.
Please help us support the Gomez family during this time of heartbreak, as all funds contributed to the fundraiser will go towards Rachel's mom and the family to cover Rachel's hospital, and funeral services.
