Rachel's Internship in Haiti

Hi everyone!
I am so excited because I have the amazing opportunity to intern in Haiti for three months this summer!
The organization I will be working with is called Respire Haiti and is located in Gressier outside of the capital of Port-au-Prince. Respire Haiti was founded by Megan Boudreaux and started as a feeding program for the community while focusing on the "restaveks" or child slaves. These children are house servants who usually do not live with their families, are abused and most likely do not go to school. Respire Haiti has grown into a school of that enrolls about 500 children and around 60% of them are restaveks. The mission of this organization is to empower these mistreated and hurt children.
Respire Haiti also runs a medical clinic, which is where I will be spending most of my time working with the malnutrition program. As a dietetics student I will be able to use my knowledge to assess individual risks of students for malnutrition. I will also be working with a feeding program that takes place once a week on Mondays to provide nutritious meals for the community. Other duties will include distributing clothing, working with the Respire Haiti cooks and whatever else is needed. For more information about the amazing organization and all of the things that the Lord is doing through it visit their website http://www.respirehaiti.org
I would appreciate prayers and support as I move forward on this journey, and I also ask you to please pray about supporting me financially. My goal is to raise $2500 by May 8th. This will cover my room and board ($500 a month), airfare ($600), and other expenses while I'm there (food, a Haitian cell phone, internet, etc.). I am so appreciative of your support and couldn't take this huge leap of faith without the encouragement of my friends and family. The Lord has shown me that this is His plan and I could not be more excited!
Thank you so much, and if you have any questions or want to hear more about my trip let me know and I'd be happy to talk your ear off about it!
Blessings,
