Early on December 7, 2021, 23-year-old Rachel Racicot was life-flighted from College Station to Memorial Hermann TMC in Houston with a brain aneurysm. Upon arrival, procedures to alleviate the pressure were performed, and Rachel was scheduled for a 12-hour surgery the next day. For the next few weeks, she would endure several more surgeries and remain heavily sedated before being transferred to a long-term acute care facility to continue her recovery from brain surgery and from suffering a stroke. Then, Rachel was fortunate to be accepted into TIRR Memorial Hermann, where she stayed for five weeks and ultimately moved to NeuroRestorative in Houston for likely a 12- to 14-week stay.
The Racicot family is humbled and thankful for the flood of prayers for Rachel’s recovery. To help remove one worry from their plate, this fundraiser serves to help cover some of Rachel’s medical expenses not covered by insurance, COBRA payments so she can continue her insurance coverage, and the many supplies she will need to return home (including a handicapped-accessible van).
Rachel’s parents, Paul and Lisa, and her siblings, Madison, Joe, Holly, and Kate, have relied on their faith during this extremely difficult time. It has been a hardship for their family to be apart for much of this time.
