Hi my name is Jennifer and I've known Rachel Williams since I was almost a teenager. She moved into our neighborhood and we became fast friends, and family. Her daughter, Santana, and my niece, Roxanne have been best friends ever since they met when they were just children.
I am super sad to say that Rachel has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. She'd started noticing unusual symptoms a while ago but, like a lot of people, shes been having a really hard time through the pandemic getting in to see doctors. This really broke my heart when I heard this!
Rachel is a really kind and giving person and always has been as long as I've known her. When I was a teenager she welcomed me into her home when I had a hard time at my own unstable home. Shes treated my niece like a daughter and me and my sister like family. Even going without seeing her for a long time, she always treats us like we are family.
As I mentioned, Rachel has already been suffering symptoms for at least a year and as of yet we do not know what stage she is in. Esophageal cancer can be really hard to heal from and we need to get her this support ASAP.
I'm asking our community, people who know Rachel and any human who can help, to pitch in whatever we can. Anything will help, its all about equity and it all adds up! We need help for chemotherapy and radiation therapy, a feeding tube, at least one scheduled surgery, medications, and support since the treatments keep her from working.
If you know Rachel and you want to be in touch with her, please know that this is an incredibly vulnerable time for her and her daughter and relay messages of support to this email:
Thank for for reading! We are beyond grateful for any support!
