My daughter, Rachel, was a shining light. At 35, we lost her to cancer. She fought so hard and shared her journey openly and honestly with others. She was so brave and hopeful throughout her battle.

Rachel was a cheerleader through and through—not just at Ottawa high School where she was the lead cheerleader, but in the way she lived her life. She cheered for her friends, her family, and even strangers. In her hardest moments, Rachel found ways to lift others up, sharing her journey on tiktok and throughout social media. The good, the bad and the ugly. Even on her worst days, she shared with dignity and grace...and humor.

We want to carry her bright light forward. That’s why we’re starting a scholarship in her honor, for a graduating senior who reminds us of Rachel’s spirit—someone kind, resilient, and brave.

This is about making sure Rachel’s name and light never fade, and that her children, Audrey, Vanessa, and Heath, can grow up knowing their mom is still making a difference in the world.
