We (Jeremy and Rachel Lazar) have been thrilled at the fact that we would be welcoming identical twin boys, Ever Lucas Lazar and Ezra Louis Lazar into our family this summer. However on April 2nd, 2021, Rachel’s water broke with baby A. We went to Winnie Palmer hospital where Rachel was admitted. Things seemed to be going ok when contractions stopped, but at 9:30pm on April 3rd, Baby B’s membrane ruptured and Rachel went into full preterm labor resulting in the babies being born at 16 weeks and 5 days, far too early to survive.
There were serious complications during the birth, resulting in Rachel having emergency surgery, blood transfusions, and a severe infection.
After covering our $3600 deductible, we will still have to pay 20% of all the services rendered during our multiple day stay, including any services such as pathology rendered to our twins. The bills will be more than we are prepared to pay. We expected to have more time to save and for Rachel to be able to work before facing huge hospital bills, as well as we never expected to have to deal with all the emergency services that were required.
We had a mealtrain set up for donations and food drop off but it was taking a lot of money for fees. We also are using some of that money for their cremation expenses (mainly the urn, as an angel covered their cremation) and for a small funeral service. Anything remaining from the mealtrain donations will go to grief counseling and other help for us during this time, including allowing Rachel to take time to heal and not return to working until she is ready as she had no leave or paid time off available at this time.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, thoughts, well wishes, words, love, and everything else. We wouldn’t survive this without it! We feel very blessed to have such wonderful friends, family, and community surrounding us during this impossible time.
Thank You,
Jeremy, Rachel, Ever, and Ezra
