Donation protected
Hi Everyone, my name is Rachel Adams and I'm from beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. I'm fundraising for a personal upcoming trip where I will be volunteering with a humanitarian aid organization in Greece.
In January of 2017, I will be traveling to Thessaloniki, Greece to work with Nurture Project International for three weeks. NPI provides breastfeeding support, nutritional support, and women's health services to the Syrian community living in refugee camps around the city. I will bring my skills as a nurse and doula to work alongside midwives and lactation consultants in support of mothers and children. Along with other international volunteers, I will be doing mother-baby assessments and educating families about the ways that breastfeeding can be lifesaving in emergencies.
The stories of the crisis in Syria are overwhelming, but I believe that hope is just as powerful. NPI supports the dignity of the refugee community by empowering the health of families, so that they in turn provide support and healing to others in their community. I am excited for the opportunity to bear witness to this, and to be reminded of the human connection that transcends culture, language, religion, and personal history.
Your donations will go toward the cost of my travel, lodging, supplies, international medical insurance, and in-country living expenses. Funds will be withdrawn from this campaign as expenses arise. Any funds raised beyond what is needed will be donated to Nurture Project International at the conclusion of the trip.
Thank you for being a part of this adventure. I'm so grateful for you!
