Early Wednesday morning my sister Rachel McGucken was found unresponsive in her home in Berea. I'd really love to tell everyone of how truly beautiful inside and out my sister was. She was a soft, and gentle soul, and she endured many hardships in her lifetime.
After our father passed away in 2004 it is very difficult for us all growing up, but one thing that kept us all going is that we all had each other. My Mom took the absolute best care of my brother, sister, and myself and catered to all our needs, even though we were less fortunate than most. Rachel was so incredibly gifted with her intelligence and excelled in school throughout her life. She was one of the smartest people I've ever known and I would always go to her for any advice. She was always cheering all of us on to do the best we could, and wanted to see us all happy.
A fond memory I have of her is when we would play as kids, and even when we were little she always wanted to help people. I didn't want anything to do with learning or school at this time, and my sister invented a creative game to help me learn better. She took a cute heart shaped stuffed animal named Charity, and she would act like he was trying to teach me things. I remember laughing, and having so much fun with her. We were rollercoaster enthusiasts and loved Cedar Point, and she took me on my first big coaster. She told me not to be afraid, and even though I was scared she encouraged me to face my fears. We had a lot of great memories like that and I'll always cherish them.
If you know Rachel, then you know how much she loved her Cats. They were her children, and she cared very deeply for all of her animals. Hayley, and Rachel were inseparable, and the bond they share will continue on from this life into the next. She was so gentle, and loving to all animals. Penguins were her favorite, and you could always find a cute penguin decoration at her house.
Rachel was dedicated to Nursing, and she worked so hard through college to become a Nurse. We all helped her along the way, even when things got difficult. She was a fighter, and continued working through school even when her body was failing her. She cherished her patients, and truly wanted to better people's lives. Being a Nurse meant the world to Rachel, and it was her passion.
My family and I want to thank everyone who wished us condolences during these difficult times. Unfortunately the sudden expenses are too great for my family to endure, and we want to be able to provide the best service for Rachel. The funeral home that we spoke with estimated that it will be paying between 10,000-15,000 dollars for all of the expenses, and any amount of excess will be returned.
You will always be my super hero Rachel, and I'll never forget all of the great memories we shared together.
