Rachel Champagne Sanders

Hi, my name is Lindsay Tamez and I fundraising on behalf of a dear friend of mine’s sister, Rachel. Rachel was recently diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer and has a 4 month old baby girl.

Her husband Kyle, wrote the following:

Thank you for taking a moment to read our story. We truly appreciate your time and consideration in this situation. Rachel Champagne and her husband Kyle Sanders and their four month old child Lilly Sanders have all been blindsided by the recent diagnosis that has been given to Rachel Champagne. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Lung Cancer that has spread to her bones, spine, adrenal gland, and her brain. As a family we are still trying to take in this diagnosis and learn what it means for us and our future.

This diagnosis brings with it a nearly unbearable emotional burden. However, it also brings with it a financial avalanche of life saving medical care that must be paid for. We have accumulated a large amount of medical debt already. Rachel has spent the majority of the last two months in the hospital working towards this diagnosis. She is now requiring medical supplies such as a radiation treatment, chemotherapy, endless amounts of medication, a wheelchair, and oxygen. Unfortunately, with our insurance and medical system these lifesaving medical requirements come at a cost to the patient. These costs are piling up due to Rachel being unable to work at this time. Her husband Kyle is also having to take time off work to transport her to all these treatments and be with her in the hospital.

Rachel has spent her life working since she was 16. The past 15 years she has worked in the field with children that have an autism diagnosis and other diagnoses that require behavioral therapy. Rachel has her master’s degree and she is a Board Certified Behavioral Analysis. Rachel has spent her days and many nights at work making changes in the lives of others. She a passionate advocate for children on the spectrum and has worked with many families providing passionate care and therapy for them and their children. As a new mother she cares for her infant day and night even through her getting cancer.
