Help Matt and Rach Schipper

Hello, this is Jackie, a friend of Matt and Rach Schipper and their two children ages 11 and 9.

Many of you know Rachel either as a family member, friend, or through her time in the Langley/Surrey communities as a respected, capable and caring midwife. I know you have likely heard of her physical struggles the past 7 years. Unfortunately, her illness and physical decline continues to bring challenges for her and her family. Though her illness has now been diagnosed as "stiff person syndrome", this prognosis does not bring with it any new treatment or answers (you can see an update on their blog here ).

Matt and Rachel have always been ones to contribute to other families through their special seasons in life. Whether through gifts (this is a BIG way Rachel shows and is shown love), prayers or other contributions, they look outwards to help and support others.

Coupling the loss of income from both Rachel's inability to work as a midwife for many years, and Matt's lessened income due to caring for Rachel and their family, I am asking we come together as a community to bless this family in a very hard and difficult time. I'm requesting donations to help this family achieve funds for costly medical equipment purchases.

I am hopeful we can raise additional funds to alleviate any potential financial pressures that they may face now or in the future. Matt is a dear man, but he isn't inclined as naturally as Rach is to ask for donations. On a recent visit with her, I asked Rach if she would be open to me setting up a GoFund me for their family. She agreed and I am joyfully following through with this now.

This money will benefit the Schipper family with the medical equipment that is so necessary to Rachel's physical comfort and therapy. Additionally, this fundraiser serves as a reminder to show the Schippers that they are not alone in this struggle, and that they are so very loved.
