Hi everyone,

I don't know where to begin. Rachael has become a huge part of my life, in a tiny amount of time. When I found out about her diagnosis I was in shock and at a loss for words. How could someone who is always helping others, have to go through this scary part of life. Rachael knows she has a strong support system behind her, and that is the most important tool to get through this phase. Please take a moment to read this message from Rachael herself.


"This would be so much easier to tell my story of who I am. Not what I have been diagnosed with. I am a daughter, a mother to three children, a sister, a friend, and a nurse. I’ve spent my life caring for others. So, at 46 years old it is difficult to accept I am now the patient. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma the first week of October 2020. I will undergo a bilateral mastectomy in the next few weeks. I am blessed to have a job, but unfortunately the amount of time off I need will not be paid. Nor will the medical bills I will incur. In the last week, I’ve come to meet cancer warriors that give me hope and positivity. I’ve seen the good in others towards myself which is heartwarming. I’m normally the constant for others in my personal and professional life. But here I am. Newly diagnosed with breast cancer and determined to be a survivor. I will share my story and encourage every woman/young girl I meet to perform self exams monthly and go for mammograms yearly. 1 in 8 women will have breast cancer; help one another. Be aware."
