Rachael Woodring (Ash) brain surgery
Hi my name is Luke Woodring and I’m here asking for financial support during a very difficult time for me and my wife, Rachael Woodring. Just 2 weeks ago, she was diagnosed with chiari malformation type 1 after a MRI scan she had scheduled due to worsening symptoms. In laymen’s terms/how it was explained to us by her doctor: her brain is sticking out of her skull by 12 mm, and is pushing on her brain stem. This is considered an urgent matter, because that’s the part of the brain that signals to the rest of the body and is connected to lung and heart function. The surgery involves removing part of her skull, putting everything back to the way it should be, and then adding new brain lining and fake skull. Her surgery is scheduled for Monday July 19th, and she has a long recovery/road ahead of her. There is a 6 week minimum recovery to the time she has to be off of work, depending on how the surgery goes.
For those who don’t know us- Rachael and I got married and bought our first home in 2020, so unfortunately we were in no way ready for the financial burden this situation has put us in. Due to her now physical limitations/restrictions, the minimum 6 week time out of work, and issues surrounding short term disability through her job, we are in need of some financial help.
We are hoping and praying all goes well with surgery, and even if you’re unable to help out financially we would greatly appreciate your prayers as well. It would help give us some piece of mind during a very scary time if we are also able to pay our bills to get by in the meantime. Anything would help us tremendously. Also, if you work at OSU hospital, she is able to accept any PTO time from any department. Her name is still Rachael Ash in the system. Thank you for your time!
