Rachael Lost the Love of her Life
Hi. My name is Diana and I started this GoFundMe for my sister, Rachael. Rachael lost the love of her life, her husband, Jason, to Covid on June 24th. They had been together for 20 years and married for 18 years. They were going to celebrate their 18th anniversary last month, but Jason was already sick with Covid.
Jason contracted Covid last month. He got very sick, very quickly. He spent 37 days in the hospital and 28 days on a ventilator. Rachael was not allowed to visit Jason for the first 31 days he was in the hospital because he was in the Covid ICU. She was unable to communicate with him via cell phone during most of this time because the BiPAP mask prevented Jason from speaking and made it difficult for him to see to read her texts. Once he was intubated and placed on the ventilator, he was sedated so he could tolerate the intubation.
Rachael was only allowed to visit him the last 6 days of his life when they moved him to the regular ICU. By then he was already in a coma and on the ventilator 100%. The doctors and nurses gave Jason every treatment they had for Covid, but they could not save Jason's life. The virus caused too much damage to his lungs.
Rachael and Jason were truly soulmates. Just look at the pictures.
They provided each other with so much love, support, and happiness. They shared the same weird sense of humor and enjoyed doing many of the same things, but most importantly, they thoroughly enjoyed each other's company.
Rachael and Jason were young. They thought they had another 20-30 years or more together. Rachael is faced with the massive hospital bills that come with a 37-day hospital stay with 28 days in the ICU on a ventilator. Both Rachael and Jason worked full time as pizza delivery drivers. When Jason got sick, Rachael picked up some of Jason's additional responsibilities, as well as her own.
Donations from this fundraiser will go to pay Jason's hospital bills and help Rachael with household expenses she faces as a 1-income household.
Rachael is now faced with the daunting task of moving forward without the love of her life, Jason. I know that there are millions of victims of Covid and the loved ones they have left behind, but only one of them is my youngest sister who I love so much and wish to help as much as I can .
Please donate to this GoFundMe. Every little bit helps.
