"Attention in the Pits"
This is the universal signal for a track delay or a major announcement. Every racer knows that when you hear this, you stop wrenching and look at the nearest speaker.
While en route to a checkpoint during Sick Summer, Richard Anderson—known to me as 'Wisconsin'—was involved in a catastrophic head-on collision. He had to be airlifted from the wreckage to a Level 1 Trauma ICU in critical condition. Right now, he is fighting through the hardest rebuild of his life. He needs the Drag and Drive community more than ever.
The damage to his physical 'chassis' is severe and life-altering: a crushed leg and foot, a shattered chest, fractured vertebrae, and severe abdominal trauma. He recently survived an intensely complicated, 9-hour surgery, but his time in the operating room is far from over. Richard is fighting with everything he has, but the physical, emotional, and financial toll on his family is compounding by the minute as their resources are rapidly drained.

"Racer in Need"
The drag racing community is unlike any other. We will literally pull parts from our own reserves to help another racer make the next pass. We fundamentally understand the devastating cost of a catastrophic break.
Right now, Richard’s mounting medical bills and lost wages are translating into a reality every racer dreads: a fellow driver needs a massive, ground-up rebuild, and the shop funds are zeroed out. This campaign is designed to help cover the crushing weight of Richard’s medical bills, his long-term rehabilitation, and to provide a financial safety net for his family so they can stay by his bedside without losing everything else. We need to be his pit crew right now. Any contribution, big or small, buys this family room to breathe.

"To the Staging Lanes"
In our world, this means it is time to line up and do what you came to do. Even if you can't throw money in the pot today, you still have a critical role to play.
Sharing this campaign, boosting the algorithm, and tagging the Drag & Drive community is how you line up in the staging lanes to help pull the weight of this tragedy. Throughout this terrifying week, I’ve been sending 'time capsule' messages to Wisconsin—stories, banter, and connections he can read later during his recovery, simply to receive support without expectation. I am inviting all friends and fellow racers to share your own stories and messages for Richard’s time capsule here. Let’s leave a record of our love and joy so he can feel the absolute strength and encouragement of his community when he is finally strong enough to read it.

"Please Proceed to the Route"
This is a gut-wrenching, yet necessary and beautiful transition. In Sick events, it means the track day is over and the grueling, unpredictable road trip begins.
It perfectly symbolizes Richard’s current reality: the immediate trauma of the crash is transitioning into the long, multi-season physical recovery that lies ahead. This isn't a quick fix; this is going to be a very long drive. But in the Drag and Drive community, we don't leave people stranded on the side of the road. Let's rally around him, get him back on his feet, and eventually, back to the track he loves.
Please consider supporting Richard and his family during the hardest route of their lives. Your generosity will be the light that helps guide him home.

Shine on, Racers!

Special thank you to our track side family for capturing Richard doing what he loves and graciously sharing these images to support his recovery. Photo credits to Red Line Photography, Austin Putnam, KW Photography, and BME Photography.
