Team French Connection — Sailing to Alaska! ⛵️
Two friends. One small sailboat. 750 miles of wild Pacific waters — no engine, no support, and a lot of determination.
We’re Delphine and Nicolas, two French sailors living in Boston, and in June 2026 we’ll take on one of the most unique and challenging races in the world: the Race to Alaska (R2AK).
What is the Race to Alaska?
The R2AK is unlike any other race. Starting in Port Townsend, Washington, and finishing in Ketchikan, Alaska, it covers 750 miles through the Inside Passage — all without an engine. That means we rely only on wind and human power to get there.
No chase boats. No fuel. Just grit, teamwork, and a sense of adventure.
It’s an endurance challenge that brings together sailors, rowers, and dreamers from around the world — and we can’t wait to be on that start line.
⚓️ Who We Are
We met in Boston through our love of the sea.
Nicolas has been sailing since he was 6 years old, from small dinghies to offshore races like Cowes–Lisbon. He’s a lifelong sailor, instructor, and skipper who loves performance and precision.
Delphine started sailing just a few years ago, but she quickly caught the bug. She’s our team’s tactician — the one watching weather patterns, currents, and plotting our course north.
Together, we form Team French Connection, racing on our 24-foot boat Scorpion — small, fast, and fierce.
Why We’re Doing This
Because it’s more than just a race — it’s an adventure of a lifetime.
We’re driven by the challenge of pushing ourselves beyond the ordinary, of testing teamwork, resilience, and trust in one another. It’s also a chance to show that even a small boat (and two people with big dreams) can take on something extraordinary.
We hope to inspire others to chase what seems out of reach — whether that’s across an ocean or just across your own comfort zone.
How You Can Help
We’re currently preparing Scorpion for the journey — upgrading safety gear, solar power, navigation systems, and adding equipment to handle the tough Alaskan conditions.
Your support will help us with:
- Safety and survival gear
- Navigation and communication tools
- Solar and energy systems
- Race logistics and travel to the start line
Every contribution — big or small — gets us one step closer to Alaska.
❤️ Join Our Journey
This race is about passion, perseverance, and friendship. But most of all, it’s about community — and we’d love to bring you along with us.
Thank you for helping us turn this dream into reality. Whether you donate, share our story, or just cheer us on from home — you’re part of the crew.
Follow our updates as Team French Connection and Scorpion make the leap from the Atlantic to the Pacific — and on to Alaska!
Fair winds,
Delphine & Nicolas
Team French Connection
