The Herons Race to Ahmedabad

Welcome to Wanstead & Snaresbrook’s “Virtual Race to Ahmedabad” fundraising page. The current COVID pandemic continues to affect us all in some way be that physically, mentally or financially, with a number of club members losing immediate family and close friends over the recent weeks. Whilst many of us continue to isolate and have had little contact with others for some time, it is important for us to remain a strong part of the community and stay connected to each other albeit “virtually” for now. Never underestimate the power of a simple text message to another club member or member of the Wanstead Community to make sure they are doing ok.

 

With that in mind, we have decided to launch a clubwide “Virtual Race to Ahmedabad”, with the simple aim of combining all of our members and friends of the clubs exercise activities to reach Ahmedabad in time for the 4th Test between India and England starting on 4th March. Members aged 8 to over 70 will be walking, running or cycling their way to complete this 4,200mile challenge in only a month.

 

We will be raising funds for Project Heron, the NHS and The Corner House Project and our target is £5,000 – you can sponsor individual members who are completing the challenge or give a donation to the team effort as a whole. Either way, we are grateful for your support!

 

Lets all club together as a community for the next month to stay as fit and healthy as possible, hoping that as we creep towards Ahmedabad we may also be creeping towards a bit more normality as well.
