Remi's Race to Recovery

Donation protected
Remmington(Remi) was born in late May of 2015, 12 weeks before his original due date and weighing 1 lb 8oz. To this day he remains a resident of the same hospital he was born in. He has had many complications over the course his short 8 month life. The majority of his time has been in NICU(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and in a separate isolation unit on antibiotics and pain medications to help manage the pain from intubation and other illnesses. He was diagnosed early on with a condition called NEC which required surgery on his intestine and the addition of colostomy bag as his body could not process his feedings. Until just recently Remi was on some very strong pain killers to make it bearable for his pain. He has had to be weaned from these medications causing terrible withdrawal symptoms. He continues to be fed through a feeding tube which helps give him the nutrition his body needs to grow. He has also had many bouts of pneumonia and with his underdeveloped lungs the damage has been extreme causing an additional surgery to add a tracheotomy tube for his breathing(he has always been on a breathing tube since his birth).

It has been very hard not being able to do the things that parents plan with their newborn child, nursing, feeding, changing or until just recently being able to regularly hold your son. His Grandparents were able to hold him for this first time since his birth at the end of January. As you can imagine, this has been very stressful for his Mommy and Daddy mentally, physically and financially. The hospital is 40 miles from home one way and trips are made daily. They have had to miss many days of work since Remi's birth for emergencies, surgeries and times when his health was uncertain. We all thought with his tracheotomy surgery he would be able to leave the hospital for the first time and come home soon but unfortunately they say it may still be as long as 4-6 months before that will happen.

We would appreciate any help you can give and your donation of $5, $10, $25 or more can go a long way to help get Remi home and help his Mommy and Daddy with hospital bills and travel expenses until they get to bring Remi home.
