Race Against Kidney Cancer
Tax deductible
Dear friends and family,
I am an avid runner and a sophomore member of my high school cross country team. I have been an active participant of this team sport since I was 11, and now want to use my passion for a greater good. That is why I’ve committed to running the Chicago Hot Chocolate 15k run on November 4, 2018 to raise money for the Kidney Cancer Association.
My father was diagnosed with kidney cancer when I was five. After rigorous treatment, he relapsed three years later and went through another round of surgery to remove his left kidney. I am very fortunate that he has overcome his battle with cancer today and is in his sixth year of remission. Because of this traumatic experience, I am empathetic toward others whose parents fought but lost their brave battles against cancer. I want to eradicate cancer!
There is only so much I can do as an individual so this is where I ask for the support of my community. You may support me by doing any of the following:
1. Offer physical support by running with me on race day! The hot chocolate run is an annual race in Chicago, and you get to eat chocolate as a reward for running! You can sign up here and can enter QDTJKBOHZF referral code for $5 off: https://www.hotchocolate15k.com/chicago
2. Provide financial support through my GoFundMe page. All donations will be given to the Kidney Cancer Association.
3. Send me words of encouragement and prayers as this is my first crowdfunding experience and first time running over 9 miles!
Thank you so much!
Love,
Scott
