Race across the world challenge for MSF!

Hi, our names are Yasmine and Poppy and we are two Durham University students taking on a 48-hour charity hitchhike challenge inspired by Race Across the World. Starting from Durham, we are trying to get as far away as possible without paying for transport, relying entirely on the generosity of people we meet along the way!

We are raising money for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), whose medical teams provide urgent care to people facing humanitarian emergencies across the world. We chose MSF because the money raised can make such a meaningful difference, even in relatively small amounts.

£11.45 can treat five malaria patients, £24 can buy 100 sachets of therapeutic food for malnourished children, £52 can provide 1,040 syringes for life-saving vaccinations and £76 can send a doctor to the field for a day.

This is a charity that means a lot to us personally, as both of our families come from medical backgrounds, so we have grown up with a real respect for healthcare, as well as for the people who dedicate their lives to providing it. Especially in today’s political climate, when so many people are being pushed into situations of urgent need through war and instability, MSF’s work matters so much, and their commitment to bringing medical care to people who need it most is something we are really proud to support through this challenge.

Any donation would mean so much to us!!
