Words from the Director
Like a lot of people my age, I’ve done my time working a shitty minimum wage job at a fast food restaurant. I endured weird men calling me sweetheart, my boss telling me not to get the COVID vaccine, and rush hours that took years off my life, all with a smile on my face. Although I walked away from work most days distraught at the state of humanity and smelling like corn tortillas, I knew that these experiences were ripe for comedy. Raccoon Soup is a fun, campy spin on my time as a waitress and on the various stories I’ve collected from friends over the years. Not only do I want to make people laugh with this short film, but also I want anyone who’s ever worked in the service industry to feel seen. And I want to encourage everyone to be more considerate of how they treat service workers. Otherwise, you might end up with a raccoon in your soup ;)
