Namaste, my name is Rabin KC. I am a trekking guide in the Himalayan country of Nepal. I have been working for more than 15 years as a trekking Sherpa and guide. We work during the seasons of Spring and Autumn. This season I had many of my groups cancel due to the Corona virus pandemic and lock-down. Over the last 8 months we have not had any work and have not been able to earn a single penny. We do not have any other skills besides guiding trekkers through the mountains of Nepal. Normally what we earn during the two trekking seasons, Spring and Autumn, are enough to tide us through the whole year. We understand lock-down is important for the health and safety of everyone. The 80-day lock-down has broken the backbone of our economic condition. During this lock-down I was able to borrow some money from friends who have been very helpful and supportive. I am the only person who earns money in my family. As the lock-down continues, I become deeper in debt with no end in sight. We hope to God this pandemic will be over soon and we can go back to leading treks through the mountains again. Thank you for supporting us. My other colleagues who work with me.
