Rabbit's Medical Adventure: The Final Chapter
After years of unexplained problems, I was finally diagnosed with aggressive neuroendocrine cancer in late 2018, at the age of 36. I was given 1 year to live.
It's now 2.5 years later and I've beaten the odds so far, but nobody escapes this one for long. My time is finally running out; a series of treatments have failed and I may have less than a month left, or maybe a few months if I'm lucky.
Money can't turn the tide of my cancer, but it can bring help and comfort to me and my family. My sister is traveling from Australia to be with us and to act as our helper, to take the load off my partner. This fundraiser is mainly to cover her costs -- the flight, and lodging in Berkeley for a few months -- so she can help us with daily needs like cooking and cleaning.
Insurance has been good to us so far, but we may also need to use these funds for extra home-care nursing and other unexpected end-of-life costs.
Also: please visit https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/rabbitsmedicaladventure for news and for non-monetary ways to help (mostly giving me rides to doctor appointments). Direct help, like giving me rides to the doctor, is more helpful than money.
I'm intensely grateful for your support. It's been a rough, rough 2.5 years and the hardest part is just about to start. Having my sister around will keep my partner from burning out from care duties, and will also just mean a lot to me since I miss her.
