In every community there is an influential figure that can be seen as the glue to the community. A leader who brings the community together, nurtures and helps the community learn and grow together. Rabbi Eric Ertel is this figure that contributes to the Jewish communities at UC San Diego, Temple Beth El, and San Diego. Over the past decade, the Ertel family home has been a place for members of the community to come together and connect. Through shabbat dinners, Wednesday night challah bakes, and other celebrations their home is seen more of a community center than a private residence. Due to impacts of COVID-19 and other unfortunate circumstances in today's unprecedented times, the home that is so dear to the Ertel family and surrounding community is in danger of being lost. Now is the time for the community they so generously and openly serve to come together and give back to this amazing family and help them continue to serve the community for years to come.
