Chihiro’s Cancer Treatment in Italy

We are writing to ask for your help.

Our beloved daughter has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time. Her illness is neuroblastoma, a cancer that forms in nerve tissue. Despite intensive treatments, the five-year survival rate is less than 50%. In case of a relapse, the survival rate drops to just a few percent. It is a challenging disease to treat.

Our daughter, who used to take great pride in her long black hair and cherished her family and friends dearly, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 3. Since then, our daily lives turned upside down, plunging us into despair.

The treatment was incredibly difficult. Days of continuous vomiting due to the side effects of chemotherapy, inability to eat, weight loss, and halted growth became our new reality. She woke up multiple times at night, complaining of pain in her throat and body. As parents, watching her suffer was unbearable. Yet, all we could do was hold her close.

During those dark moments, our daughter became our savior. When we were speechless, breaking down in tears, she held us and said, "It's okay, I won't leave you." Her strength was our beacon of hope.

She fought through the treatment and finally overcame it. At the age of 5, her treatment ended, and her hair started to grow back. She could go to school, make friends, and enjoy trips to the sea and mountains. For us, every day was a miracle.

However, fate has tested us once again. When she turned 9, the cancer relapsed. We searched tirelessly for any possible way to save her and discovered that GD2-CAR-T therapy, conducted at the Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù in Italy, could be effective. Upon inquiry, they agreed to admit our daughter. However, the cost of the treatment is approximately 50 million Japanese yen, and when including travel expenses, accommodation for accompanying family, and several years of post-treatment observation,the total exceeds 60 million yen. This is far beyond what we can afford with our salaries.

But we refuse to give up on our daughter's life just because of this financial barrier. We have decided to reach out to those who might support us.

Please, help us bring back her radiant smile once more. Give her a chance to regain her beautiful hair, just like she had before.
