Please Help The Douglas Family

Hi, I'm Amy Velez, and I've been neighbors with Mark and Kara since they moved here in 2006.

Mark and Kara are two of the most loving and generous people you will ever meet. In our 18 years of being neighbors and friends, Mark and Kara have always been there for us. Mark helped get our generator going and fixed our boiler during the Ice Storm of 2008, and there was no one more handy than Mark. Kara defines SELFLESS, and she always cares more about others than herself.

Today, January 24, 2024, there was a fire inside the home of Mark and Kara. Thankfully, no one (including their beloved dog, Mochi) was inside the house, but the damage inside their home was devastating.

Whatever the fire didn't destroy, the water did!

The more I've gotten to know Mark and Kara over the years, the more I know they would HATE to have the spotlight put on them.

Even while we were helping them out this evening, Kara apologized at least a dozen times because they "ruined" our evening.

Mark is also suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, and this makes the fire even more devastating.

If you could please help us help them, we would truly appreciate it.
