Care for Kinsley

Update 12/1/2023

This girl goes home today!!! We have been told over and over what a miracle Kinsley is! She absolutely should not be where she is today, or doing as good as she is today, with the severity of her brain injury! Life will look different for Kinsley for a while during the time her brain needs to completely heal. It will be important for her to have a very structured and careful home life so as not to re-injure her brain or to over stimulate it! She will have a lot of out patient rehab to reintegrate her into social settings, driving and to regain her muscle strength. I cannot tell you all enough how grateful I am for all of the prayers and donations. If you’d still like to donate to kinsleys future care, we would appreciate it so much!

Update 11/25:2023
Over the past week, Kinsley has went from only participating in physical therapy for 5 mins each day, to participating for 3 hours a day! She is getting stronger and stronger each day! She is fighting with all her might and it’s showing! She is spending time with friends and siblings that visit her at the hospital. She’s all laughs and smiles when she’s visiting the ones that she loves most. We are so grateful to hear those giggles again! She is slowly starting to eat more, but is still losing a lot of weight. The drs are trying to balance her calories out, but she throws up when they give her enough calories. They will do another swallow study on her next week and see what steps we need to take from there. This week she got to ride a tricycle outside and she gets to go on a “field trip” in the next day or so. Meaning we get to take her in the car for a little bit. A week ago they were saying 4-6 more weeks in the hospital and 100 days of inpatient rehab, but Kinsley’s willpower has them rethinking that! She is now looking at another 1 or 2 weeks in the hospital and only outpatient rehab. We will also meet with a team about how it will look when Kinsley can return to school. She will need an IEP and some tutors to help her through the rest of the year and maybe from here on out. She still has so much work to do and there will be activities, that they say, she’ll never be able to do again, but never say never to Kinsley! Please share and donate to help with Kinsley’s expenses and all of her future care. We appreciate all who have helped during this difficult time. ❤️

New update:11/20/2023
Kinsley was moved from the ICU to the trauma care team and got both of her drains out and all but one IV. She went from 12 routes for medications down to only the feeding tube and one IV! Her esophagus is still not cleared for liquids, but she is cleared to eat soft solids. She has lost a lot of weight, but is slowly trying to eat to gain it back. Even though she tires easily, she’s working really hard in physical therapy. Kins is estimated to be in the hospital for another 4-6 weeks, but they are trying to approve 100 days of in patient rehabilitation. We are counting our blessings every day with every progression. Life is fragile and she is so lucky, to not only be alive, but to be doing so well. The prayers of all of her loved ones, friends, and strangers have been felt immensely. We have been so touched by all who have donated and reached out. Even strangers have pulled together to help Kinsley along. We really cannot express how much it means to us and how much it has helped!

New UPDATE:11/15/2023
Kinsley has made some progress towards recovering. She is scheduled to have the part of her skull that was removed during emergency surgery put back into place. She cannot swallow but she does have a feeding tube and should be able to in time. She is breathing on her own. They are hoping to move her out of the ICU in a few more days. We will see how her brain swelling goes after this surgery. Still a really long road to recovery. We are still so grateful that she is alive and on her way to making a full recovery. Please keep her and the family in your prayers. Thank you for your continued support.♥️

UPDATE: 11/11/2023
After 12days of Intensive Care Kinsley has regained consciousness. She has limited use of the left side of her body but she does knows her family and friends. Kinsley’s memory of the accident and why she is in the hospital eludes her. She will require several more weeks in the hospital and months of rehabilitation. Thank you for your prayers and you generosity. Please continue to pray for Kinsley, her family, and if you will please forward our “Care for Kinsley” GoFundMe campaign. ❤️
We will share an update soon.

My name is Andrea, I’m Paul and Holly’s neighbor and a long time friends. I received an urgent message from my dear friends that Paul’s beautiful 15 yrs old daughter Kinsley was involved in a horrific accident. She fell from a moving vehicle and hit her head. The emergency responders determined that she suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. She was life flighted to SLC Primary Children’s Hospital. Kinsley was able to speak and converse with her parents and family when suddenly Kinsley took a drastic turn for the worst. She required emergency brain surgery. Kinsley is now in a coma at the ICU in extremely critical condition. Her condition will be touch and go for the next several weeks.
I have created this Go Fund Me to help Kinsley’s family afford to be by her side during this precious, delicate situation. This will give us all the opportunity to help Kinsley too. Our donations will pay for living expenses, missing wages and inevitable medical expenses. Please pray for their families during this difficult time.

Sincerely Grateful,
Andrea Simondi
