My name is Krysta and my husband, Brent, and I are struggling to keep our home. About 9 months ago, Brent had to leave his job of nearly 25 years because his body can no longer handle the physicality of it. He has also worked from home online for the last 20 years. He remained working online at home, but even that has become painful and difficult. He has degenerative disc disease in his lower spine and was born with one arm. He has already had surgery to repair his only hand, but has permanent nerve damage causing limited feeling and range of motion. On top of his income being cut in half, I became unemployed for 3 months to start off 2022. I have since found an amazing job as a preschool teacher, but the damage has been done. With such little income coming in the first few months of this year, the hole has become impossible to climb out of. Unfortunately, life doesn't stop. Bills keep on adding up. We are now almost 6 months behind on our mortgage which the bank has now required to be caught up in full in the next 2 weeks. The next step will be foreclosure. We really don't want to lose our home, as this was meant to be our forever home- pass it down to our children, Christmas with our grandbabies, growing old here. Our oldest is now in college and our 9-year-old daughter is very aware of the situation we are in. It has been stressful for the whole family. Any help we were to receive would go towards saving the house and paying off debts incrued during this difficult time. We have always been a family that believes in helping others and paying it forward when you can. It would mean the world to us to be able to save our home.
