Hi All,

My mother turned 61 on October 4, 2024. Then, on October 9th, my parents called and told me that my mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer and the doctor gave her 2-3 months to live. On the 16th, my mother went in to get a more comprehensive PET scan. On the 23rd, my parents had a follow-up appointment with the oncologist that I attended via FaceTime. Unfortunately, the cancer spread to her large intestine as well. Surgery is not an option, and my mother decided to opt out of chemo. The prognosis is still 2-3 months, and because she opted out of chemo, she will be in at-home hospice care until she passes. As of now (10/25), we have not found the appropriate hospice service provider.

In July 2024, my parents moved into their very first home that they bought. It was always my mother's dream to own a home—albeit a condo—since we moved to the States in '99.

Many of you know my mother is a hairstylist and ran a small hair salon by herself. As of October 21, 2024, we put my mother's hair salon up for sale because she no longer felt strong enough to work.

A social worker assigned to my family provided me with resources for grants by the government and private organizations; however, funding is limited and there are no grants open. I am on an email and text notification list when something does pop up.

My parents and I do have a plan moving forward when she does pass away. However, I feel like I need to do something more. I made this GoFundMe page to at least help ease financial strain on my parents and for my dad after the passing of my mom.

I didn't know how much my parents need, so I just put a number. Unused funds will be donated to the private and/or federal financial assistance programs for cancer patients.
