Andi's Mission to Hope Haven Rwanda

On May 8, our team of 6 will begin a 9-day mission trip to serve the town of Murindi, Rwanda through Hope Haven Rwanda. The mission of HHR is to “provide a Christ-centered haven where the community at large can be shown hope for a future through education and the love of Jesus Christ.” Through a full education for children, literacy programs for adults and a vocational educational program, HHR is bringing immediate change to a community where 90% of the population has an earning potential of $2 per day. HHR provides job skills necessary for employment, better farming methods to provide for families and the community and entrepreneurial awareness to become job providers themselves. In turn the children, through the love of Jesus, will be given a vision and will break the cycle of poverty.
Currently, the HHR campus has newly-constructed a nursery, a primary education building, a computer lab, administrative space, an industrial kitchen and missionary living quarters, but they are just beginning. With many more children eager to attend class, five additional primary education buildings are in planning to accommodate a growing school to provide a place of learning for children and adults, a place of worship and a community gathering area.
Our team will work primarily in the classrooms, teaching children and adults to improve the literacy rate of the community. Additionally, we will be teaching parents basic computer skills and entrepreneurial skills as they are often too young to wait for the next generation to be educated. Most importantly, we will be bringing the hope that comes through Jesus Christ to the community of Murindi and putting flesh to His love.
